What makes for a good movie on “A Year To Think”? Compelling subject matter is, of course, king. A strong cinematic concept definitely helps. A narrative arc is never frowned upon. And a surprising emotional component is always home run. But not everything we shot found its way out of our constantly moving post-production facility. Our roaming camera wandered down a lot of dead end alleys out there. Some films fell victim to too little time, or too much footage was shot to sift through, or they were just too plain boring to end up on the small screen. Here is our tribute to a handful of potential gems that unfortunately never found their way to the front page of the blog. But oh, what could have been!
I am so sad your adventure is over. I have had such a great time!
I will really miss sharing your adventures with you. Xxxx Margie
I have LOVED these adventures. Thanks so much for taking the time to share them. It has been wonderful to travel via the Flackett/Levins!!!
xoxo
We still have a few posts yet to come!
Welcome back to the US. It has been great fun to follow your adventures, and vicariously experience so many places or reminisce about places you visited that I too know. I wish you a smooth re-entry into life back in LA.

My son directed me to your blog before you left on your incredible year, and I had the pleasure of traveling with you to places I’ve wanted to see, and some I’ve never even dreamed of. It has been a delight, and I thank you!
See you soon!
How are you managing reentry?
Thank you for sharing that wonderful adventure. It has been a joy and inspiration! Welcome home.
You’ll just have to go back to shoot these…as well as some sequels.
I am game to see a whole bunch of videos that weren’t up to your high standards. They are good enough for me. So keep them coming. I am happy that you are back, but will miss your lively interesting and informative adventures. So, don’t leave those records on the cutting room floor. The Chinese man drinking water was framed quite artistically.
First of all, Thank you. You have inspired my family to travel with the optimistic eye. Second, please keep posting about re-entry. It is very generous of you all to share your family with us all. Your posts connect people, much in the same way a visit with strangers does. It makes us strangers no more. I shall miss the fabulous Franny and the wise and wonderful Finn. Jenny, I have not seen you in years and yet shall miss your spirited and intrepid curiosity. Mark, I can not wait to welcome you to Tucson and cook for you.
In other words, thank you for this magical journey.
What are you most surprised to be grateful to get back?
great to read your wonderful words Jenny.

Funny!
Wonderful, as always. You are not stopping, are you?????
We’ve still got a few more, Selene. We’ll tell you when we’re stopping.
Glad the posts and movies aren’t done. Even if you’re home, keep ’em coming! In my mind, you’re still out there, somewhere, having an adventure.
Awesome ,it has been a wonderful adventure. Thank you for sharing.
Good Luck . J.C
Welcome home and what fun this film was. I, for one, am grateful that you did not return to Turkey because of the political situation; however, I am delighted by the portion of “Istanbul, not Constantinople” that you did perform. I believe I mentioned how Gail had that record on a 45rpm and it was very popular in the Forman household during my childhood.
Great treasures, your films…… take good care and see you on Thanksgiving! love, Aunty Wendy
Great to see you and I love All the videos–the way you put together the ones not up to your standards is great in itself. I hope there are a few more coming. How about one of the exploding Coke bottle!!!
I’ve tried to save everyone of your videos. I watch again and again. I was in the park in Beijing where you were. Now I feel like I’ve been everywhere you’ve been. Thank you for everyone of them. You all are geniuses.
This is not the first time my footage ended up on the cutting room floor! Love this version though!
