In our further study of fuel prices around the world, we present exhibit B: The cost to fill a tank in a normal five passenger sedan in Adelaide, Australia.Yes, that’s $97.25 Australian dollars. And keep in mind that currently it costs just over 105 U.S. cents to buy an Australian dollar, so that brings the price of a tank of gas here to a whopping 102 dollars. Last month in oil-abundant, government subsidized Ecuador, we were seeing petrol selling for $1.52 a gallon, where in Australia that’s the cost of a liter.
I will take the train,thanks! Luv,w
Hmmmm……Gas prices in Australia?
Australia = $ 97.25 Australian Dollars/tank of gas
Australian Tank of gas = 68.53 litres
American Dollars/Tank of gas in litres = $102 American Dollars
Ecuadorian Gallon of gas = $1.52
Franny, how many Ecuadorian pesos does it take to fill the tank with Australian gas? And how many gallons will that be?
Here in Sherman Oaks today, gas is $3.17/gallon on the corner of Ventura Blvd and Van Nuys. Chevron. Costs me about $50 USD to fill up and I have no idea why.

The answer is it takes zero Ecuadorian pesos to fill the tank because there is no such thing as an Ecuadorian peso. In Ecuador, they use American dollars. There old currency was called the sucre. I’m still working on how many gallons that would be. — Franny
I won’t be going to Australia by car!! Thanks Karl for your edification. In the Boston area now, gas in 3.93 a gallon; LA was always more expensive. What is the world coming to! Thanks Franny for telling us about the sucre. I thought that word meant sugar.
I better get to Sherman Oaks! I bought gas in Brentwood today for $4.27 a gallon and that was the cheapest I could find!!!! Don’t they have more efficient vehicles in Australia? That tank should last you for the whole year, right????
Ooops! I made a typo. it’s $4.17 at the Chevron on the corner in Sherman Oaks! Not $3.17. Sorry Gail and Noa…..I didn’t mean to start a mad dash from Brentwood or Boston for cheap gas in Sherman Oaks.
Franny, of course your #1FAN knew there was no such thing as a peso in Ecuador. Eh…a….I was just joking.
CLUE: Google the conversion of how many gallons in a litre and divide the number into 68.53 and you’ll have the answer in gallons. Or, maybe you need to find out how many litres are in a gallon and multiply by 68.53…..HELP!!!! Call the algebra teacher!
